Supa Dupa Rugby Round-up with Francois “The Last Maharajah” Badenhorst

Andrew Hore Andrew Hore of the Hurricanes poses during the 2011 Super Rugby Season Launch at The Auckland Museum on February 8, 2011 in Auckland, New Zealand.

Hey there. You want some Super Rugby? Oh okay then buddy.

Round 15 kicked off in Wellington with the Hurricanes beating the Force 34 – 28. The ‘Canes were lucky, however, they snatched the W with two late tries; the last one coming after the hooter. In other news, Andrew Hore has amazing sideburns. The Lions! Oh yes! They won AGAIN. Yes siree they went and beat the Highlanders with a last gasp try to make the final score 26 – 22. I couldn’t believe it to tell the truth but the Lions don’t give a f**k these days; Butch James in particular is making a big difference for the Jo’Burg guys.Over on the world’s biggest floating turd, better known as Australia, the Stormers compounded the Brumbies misery and grinded out a 16 – 3 victory in Canberra. Well, grinded out is being a bit kind but since they played so well against the Blues last week I’ll give them a stay of execution. You’ve been warned Stormers.

The other game played in Oz was a heavyweight contest between the pack leading Reds and the Crusaders. The game continued round 15’s last minute winner trend with Quade Cooper kicking a winning penalty after 80 minutes to win the game 17 – 16 for the Reds. Good news is that it was Richie McCaw that gave away the winning penalty; bad news is that Quade Cooper was the match winner (Highlights below)...

The first game played on South African soil last weekend was the game between the Sharks and the Waratahs. The Sharkies won it 26 – 21 but they had a shocking first half and for 60 minutes they looked in real danger of losing the match..

The best game of game of the weekend was between the Cheetahs and the Bulls, the game ended 32 – 21 to the Bulls but the Cheetahs deserve all the credit for the type of rugby they play. They love to party, they really do. I’ve never seen a team with such lust for just having a crack and it’s just f**king delightful. I love the Cheetahs and their wiley ways more than I do my own mother. That’s right, I said it.OMG.. It is done. I can’t believe it. Someone sing to me in the twilight

Wales v. The Barbarians (HensON or HensOFF)

Wales v. The Barbarians

Last weekend, I watched the second half of the England Baa-baas game... It wasn't a bad game of rugby to watch. The Baa-baas kept with their usual style of play which saw them attack from all areas of the pitch. England of course were trying to win the game and gain some momentum in the build up to the World Cup. They fielded a young and in-experienced side as you would expect, with Johnson pretending to watch out for some new talent.

The Barbarians though, they were impressive. Their back row was made up of Joe Van Niekerk, George Smith and Sergio Parrise. Needless to say, that has to be one of the biggest and fastest back rows on the planet. In the centres they had Basteraud and Baby which are not a pair to be taken lightly either. Thats always the way with the Barbarians, they recruit big name players who have had a good season and throw them all together in an effort to produce some magnificent rugby. That in itself, is a reason to watch any game.

The other reason I have for keeping an eye on their next fixture is indeed the return of Gavin Henson to the Welsh squad. All eyes will be on him, as he makes a last ditch effort to board the plane thats destined for New Zealand.

I'm going to admit, I'm actually a fan of Gavin Henson. I think he's a great player, one of many to have come through the Welsh set up. Unfortunately he has made some mistakes along the way and his rugby career has gone down the drain in recent times. He done a stint on Strictly come dancing which raised a few eye brows and rightfully so. The man reportedly lost weight to get himself down to 11 stone for that show... 11 stone!! Were he to play an international match in the centre weighing only 11 stone, he'd have been thrown around like a rag doll. This is the thing that bugs me, when he committed himself to the dancing, he turned his back on his rugby career.

Now nearly a year later he has made his return. This leaves me with only one suggestion, that being the Gavin Henson is mental. Yes, he is clinically insane. The guy doesn't know what he wants and with that, I can't understand how he could add to his countries world cup ambitions. We have said it already, he's one of the most talented Welsh players there is but just how committed is he? Maybe we will find out this weekend!
