Buckley to swim with the Sharks

Buckley during the Movember Internationals!!

I woke up to the news this morning that Tony Buckley has agreed a move to Sale Sharks. The Irish Giant has signed a three-year deal to join Aviva Premiership side Sale Sharks from next season. Commenting on his move to England next season, Buckley said: I felt I needed a new challenge. I believe the best club to give me that challenge and also help me become a better player is Sale Sharks. They are hungry and ambitious for success and I want to be a part of that."

Reports are also suggesting that this move will pave the way for the return of Mike Ross. Ross started his professional career with Munster before moving to Harlequins where he established himself a bit more. He then made the trip to Leinster where he has come on leaps and bounds in recent months. Given Munsters current problem of not being able to hold up a scrum, Ross would be a significant signing if they are to return to the side they were a few years ago. With Jamie Hagan moving from Connacht to Leinster, Ross looks set to swap Leinster for Limerick baby! Lets hope so anyway.

As for Buckley, I doubt he had much choice in the matter. Yes he's fantastic around the park but his scrummaging is just too much of a problem. I hope he gets better when he moves across seas, although I think its somewhat, unlikely! However, Mushy is a Munster man till the end of the season and he is still loved by the fans. I'll leave you with this.........
